SULPHUR SPRINGS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Another huge industry in Sulphur Springs is the school district consisting of the Early Childhood Learning Center, three Primary Schools, an Elementary School, an Intermediate School, Middle School and High School.

The Early Childhood Learning Center is where the future of Sulphur Springs begins with the Pre-K and Kindergarten students.  There are three Primary Schools, those being Bowie, Lamar and Travis that are comprised of 1st and 2nd grades, the Elementary School accommodates the students in 3rd and 4th grades. Additional classrooms have been added at Douglas Intermediate School, which serves the 5th grade students only.  A new 150,000-square foot middle school to house 6th through 8th grades sits on a 53-acre site south of Interstate 30. Each of these campuses play an important role in the educational process in Sulphur Springs.

The High School consist of state of the art facility designed for an initial enrollment of 1,100 students while allowing for future expansion of additional classrooms to house a maximum of 1,200 students. It will include a classroom wing consisting of 41 full-sized classes grouped by educational discipline, restrooms and drinking fountains. It will also include a media center in the center of the building, two gymnasiums to allow four multiple games and programs simultaneously, four decentralized computer labs, a dining room with enough space and seating to double as a “common space” for the gyms, nine science labs/classrooms with state of the art equipment. It will also include two art classrooms, special needs classrooms, a band hall with practice rooms, administration office and a commercial kitchen. 

There is also a multipurpose building at the high school, which can be used for a variety of activities including sports and cheerleading, with enough diverse planning that practice sessions for more than one activity could be conducted at the same time in the building. There is also a track/soccer complex that has parking, restrooms, bleachers and lighting so that additional practices could be held at the facility along with four lighted tennis courts.
