ABOUT US

The Sulphur Springs Public Library system is located at 611 North Davis Street, at the corner of Davis and Wood Lawn 2 blocks from downtown Sulphur Springs, Texas. The Sulphur Springs Public Library provides free services to all residents living within Hopkins County and the city/county boundaries. At the end of 2013, there were 10,894 registered patrons in the Sulphur Springs Public Library roles.  The total population of Hopkins County as of the 2012 US Census is 35,565.

The library system now holds 45,700 material items including print books, audio books, movie and music compact discs, as well as educational audio-visual training programs.  In addition, Sulphur Springs Public Library maintains the world renowned St. Clair Music Box Collection on display and in digital format (part of the Texas A&M Heirloom Grant); the Sinclair WWII Collection, also in digital format (University of North Texas Historical Archives Collection Grant), and an exquisite display of artworks by artists such as Thomas Kincade, Jo Ann Durham, and Edgar Sotello.

In total 63,356 items were checked out of the system during 2013! We are also excited to report that 19,541 persons entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources or accessed the Internet through the Library’s broadband connection coupled with state-of-the-art Wi-fi service. Likewise, many of these patrons also participated in computer and Internet use and training; viewed a Library exhibit, or attended one of the Library’s many events.
